PITCH US YOUR HOUSEOlive Tully, commercial insurance underwriter on why you should consider buying her house
What and Where
Madeira Oaks, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford. The Madeira Development is in one of the most desirable areas of Enniscorthy, within walking distance of the town centre, just half a mile from the N11 Dublin Road. Ours is a four-bedroom semi that is less than a year old. The house is not overlooked at the front, and has a large landscaped green area opposite.
Describe the house
It's got a big livingroom and four spacious bedrooms upstairs, together with family bathroom which is tiled in black and white. All bedrooms have been carpeted in neutral shades.
Downstairs, there's a big livingroom with bay window, a marble fireplace and oak flooring. The large kitchen/diningroom has solid beech units and island unit. French doors open to the back garden, which has a large steel garden shed.
The second reception room is currently a children's playroom, but could also be used as an office or fifth bedroom. It has a lacquered wooden floor.
There are wooden Venetian blinds to the front, and roller blinds on all rear windows.
Why are you moving??
Due to my job and family committments, I need to live in Dublin; I will be very sad to leave this house and the area.
What's the best thing about it?
Apart from the house itself, it has to be the location - it is one hour's drive to the Dundrum exit of the N11, 40 minutes to Carlow, 20 minutes to Wexford town, and the lovely beaches of Curracloe and Blackwater are only 20 minutes away.
It is true, the sunny south-east does get more sunshine!
The estate is full of open green spaces and landscaped areas, and has many young professionals and families living within it.
And the neighbourhood?
Enniscorthy is a great town, with lots of excellent shops and boutiques. There is a new shopping centre with Dunnes Stores open until midnight and Lidl and Aldi are both also in the town. There is the Riverside Hotel and Leisure Club, and good restaurants and pubs. The historic part of Enniscorthy includes the castle in the town and Vinegar Hill just outside the town, and the River Slaney runs through the centre of the town, with excellent walkways along it.
There are daily commuter trains and buses to Dublin from Enniscorthy, and the Rosslare ferry port is half an hour away.
Who would like to live in your home?
This would be ideal for any first-time buyer, with so much space and many extras included.
Anyone wanting to move away from Dublin to a more tranquil place, without being too isolated, would appreciate the security of living near neighbours, while also benefiting from all that a country town can offer.
The schools are good and so are the sporting clubs for soccer, rugby and GAA.
With daily trains and the opening of the Gorey bypass (Enniscorthy and Ferns are to follow) it also makes commuting to Dublin much easier and quicker.
