THE BUSY post-Easter auction season continues tomorrow afternoon at Hegarty’s of Bandon, Co Cork, where an Irish three-door breakfront arts and crafts, Celtic revival library bookcase “in perfect condition with exquisitely carved panels and etched glass” is up for auction at €5,000-€10,000. The vendor bought it from an estate in Westport, Co Mayo. The maker is unknown and the piece may have been a one-off commission or an exhibition piece dated circa 1890.

Also tomorrow, in Malahide, Co Dublin, Drums auctioneers is selling the contents of a house where one of the star lots is a French sculpture "found under the stairs". The 17-inch-high bronze group of figures is signed Clodion and is probably a 19th century copy of work by the French sculptor Claude Michel, 1738-1814 who was known as Clodion. The estimate is €1,500-€2,500. – MP
