Honeypark moves on to next phase

Energy-efficient four and five-bedroom houses in Glenageary, Co Dublin, come with neat gardens and communal sports courts, a playground and duck pond

The latest phase of new houses at Honeypark have a pocket and energy friendly A3 rating. The Cosgrave-built development comprises some 700 properties on the site of the Olde Dún Laoghaire Golf Course, off Glenageary Road Upper.

The four-bedroom houses, measuring about 139sq m (1,500sq ft), cost €435,000 through agents Hooke and MacDonald. There are 10 for sale, all with south-facing back gardens.

The homes are described as “sealed” so the money you spend heating your home does just that rather than heating air that then escapes up the chimney or out of ill-fitting windows. They also have a heat-recovery system.

Included in each is a fitted kitchen with Zanussi appliances, quartz countertops, tiled floors, and an L-shaped utility room that has a washing machine and drier.

The polished fit-out includes smart, solid oak doors throughout. Glazed doors open out to small back gardens with plants, lawns and sheds, wired for electricity. There is pedestrian rear access.

The ground floor has a wood-floored family room to the front and a wc.

On the first floor there are four bedrooms with built-in wardrobes. The main bedroom overlooks the back and has an en suite shower-room. Adjacent is a large box room.

At the top of the house there is attic storage space, bigger than the garden but without any natural light.

The development is landscaped to a high level. The set-up is almost Truman Show esque. There is a large pond that is home to 25 ducks. A large, playground, with a rubber surface, is overlooked by a stepped area where parents and minders can keep an eye on proceedings.

To the rear there is a multi-sports court, a basketball court and a putting green.

Larger four-bedroom houses, 180sq m (1,938sq ft) in size, are for sale at €475,000. The five-bedroom properties start from €555,000 and range in size from 223sq m (2,400sq ft) to 229sq m (2,464sq ft).
