South Dublin County Council is considering a planning application for a 123-bedroom hotel on the site of the former Tara Co-Op at the junction of the Leixlip road, Cooldrinagh Lane and the M4 at Cooldrinagh, Lucan. The developers also propose to provide a 30,000 sq ft leisure complex, which will include a gymnasium, squash courts, handball court, two restaurants and three retail units. Near Dublin Airport, permission has been sought to provide another 60 bedrooms in a two-storey block at the Travelodge and Little Chef restaurant at Swords.
In Blanchardstown, businessman Albert Gubay has been refused permission by An Bord Pleanala to provide a car-park with 65 spaces beside his Total Fitness Centre. Meanwhile, Fingal County Council is considering a planning application for 136 houses on the Balbriggan inner relief road, east of the Wavin factory.
Village Homes has been refused permission by the planning appeals board for 13 dormer-type duplex apartments and 13 apartments at Anley Lodge, Esker Lane, in Lucan.
