Wear it out: Vintage gems to make your look stand out

This week we met Max Macken, a music and clothing expert who works in Lucy’s Lounge, Temple Bar

Vintage gems can make your look stand out. The vintage shops and their owners often hold the key to these difficult to find treasures.

This week we met Max Macken, a music and clothing expert who works in Lucy’s Lounge, 5 Fownes Street, Temple Bar (if in doubt just look for the big pink building beside Urban Outfitters, you can’t miss it).

Lucy’s Lounge is the best Aladdins Cave there is. You will always find an amazing piece in Lucy’s and it seems only fitting that the staff their have the best style going. Also if you are looking for costumes for Halloween its the only place to go.

We chatted to Max about how he puts together his look, mixing high street and makes an antique piece of clothing like breeches fresh and modern.

"The shoes I got in Zara, I love the buckles and thought they would really work for this outfit. The socks are form the women’s section in Pennys. I have always hated jeans and have been looking everywhere for breeches. The great thing about working in a vintage shop is that when Lucy is away buying she keeps an eye out for things for me and found a few pairs of trousers like this on a recent buying trip which made my day!"

"Its always a good idea to ask in shops like that if you are looking for a particular item so the buying teams can keep you in mind on buying trips. The waistcoat is anther Lucy’s piece that I found hidden in a corner one day and loved the print and the same with the tie. The shirt was a steal at 5 euro at a flea market. I love the Dublin Flea Market in Newmarket Square to find pieces like this. I like to wear vintage as noone else will have the same look as you then and you dont have to spend a fortune to look good"
