Wear it out: Using fashion to explore different versions of yourself

This week we meet the gorgeous Amy Rafferty, vintage clothing store manager

This week we meet the gorgeous Amy Rafferty, vintage clothing store manager. Amy lives and works in Galway city centre, which is fast becoming a little fashion hub. With many small boutiques popping up on its little streets Galway is a great place for some summer shopping. While you are there make sure to sample some of the amazing local cuisine too, it will make you want to go and live in the west.

Tell us about your outfit today?

This is 100 per cent my go-to look. My body suit is from Missguided. I have always felt empowered by showing skin (each to their own) and am drawn to things have plunge neck lines.

It was love at first sight with my jeans. I got them in Barcelona last year – the Gothic region there has loads of amazing vintage and boutique clothes shops.

I picked up my Wrangler shirt at a vintage kilo sale in Galway. I have been dancing and teaching hip hop since my early teen years and that has definitely influenced my shirt wearing ways.

My very worn Dr Martins are the thing I couldn’t live without. I think everyone should own a pair (especially if you live in the west of Ireland like I do).

How would you describe your personal style?

In regards to my personal style I dress to accommodate the different versions of myself. Some days I want to be girly and cute. Other days I like to be edgy. I have never limited myself to a particular style. I find far too many things pretty to do that.

What are you most looking forward to this summer?

I have been living in Galway for around five years now and due to a lot of working nights and the likes, I have missed out a lot on actually being a part of so many of the amazing things that go on here. I have got an unbelievable new job now that has already given me a new lease of life.

Even though I will be fitting in some festival fun and hopefully visiting some friends abroad, I am honestly mostly looking forward to being able to really enjoy Galway and the laid-back nature of this special city.
