Wear it out: Minimal, retro and vintage collide but don’t clash in this teen’s look

This week, we meet Junior Cert student Ferdia from Gaoth Dobhair in Donegal

This week, we meet Ferdia from Gaoth Dobhair in Donegal. He may just be in third year in school but this kid knows more abut stylish minimalism than any adult I know. He sticks to a palette of neutral tones when selecting his outfits and his Instagram feed is a carefully curated delight that shows off this dedication to the minimalist trend.

Social media is an amazing platform for younger people to develop a style and an identity of their own long before they leave home or school. With inspirational fashion at the tips of their fingers the sky is the limit when it comes to putting together a look.

Tell us a bit about your outfit? My jacket (€55) is from H&M, I wanted a minimalistic jacket that would tie up any outfit perfectly. My turtle neck (€30) is from Urban Outfitters, I like it because it gives a smart casual look.

My jeans (€48) are H&M, the jeans are distressed. I love that they give a edgy vibe and makes the outfit look very laid back. My shoes are full black Nike Air Force 1s (€68). These shoes are a great finish to a black outfit and are very comfortable which is a plus! The all black colour makes them easier than most runners to wear with everything. Total bargain!

What are you most looking forward to this summer? I'm looking forward for summer this year – mostly for the weather, but also to be able to go for walks and enjoy the break, along with brighter colours surrounding us! I'd plan on traveling more this summer, just to get out and see more of the world!

How would you describe your personal style? I would describe my style as very minimal, I like to wear retro vintage pieces that go well with new trends look! I like earthy neutral colours along with blacks whites and greys.
