Wear it out: How to find inspiration, and killer pieces, both home and away

This week, we meet Roger Kelly, fashion intern from Shankill in Dublin, to get the lowdown on his laidback style. Collecting pieces and inspiration whilst travelling always helps us step outside our usual fashion bubble and Roger has done just that. So keep your eyes peeled if you are away this January – you never know where you might find your next fashion statement piece.

“The shoes are just classic 1461 black Dr Martens, which I got about six months ago in Schuh for €107. They go great with any type of jean and are unbreakable, perfect for going out.

“I was on a J1 in New York this past summer, so a couple of the pieces were picked up there. The jeans are black ripped-length jeans from Topman in New York for $80, I got this red corduroy shirt from a small vintage store in Soho, New York for $20 and my favorite piece in my wardrobe is my cream trench coat, which I found in an old box of my mums clothes from the 1980s.

“As for my style, I feel like it has been accumulated primarily from travelling. Living in Berlin for seven months was a real influence on how I see fashion, and on my style in general. I’ve also spent two summers in Ios, Greece, which is basically a laidback, party island, so that vibe definitely reflects on my wardrobe. I wouldn’t say there is any person in particular I’d base my style on, but I’m a big fan of A$AP Bari and some guys on instagram such as Adin Daylor.”
