FASHION:New Look's exclusive new collection

Donovan Pascal might not be a well-known name, but he’s the designer behind New Look’s Idol brand, now in its eighth season with the high-street chain. It’s a rock chick look with summer music gigs and dance floors in mind – young, urban and pretty in a modern way. Pascal’s long association with music stars gives him the focus and the edge; he has styled Prince, made pieces for the 2003 Rolling Stones tour, and idolises the “effortless” style of singer Shingai Shoniwa from the Noisettes.

Born of this combination of music and fashion, it’s a very London look with familiar details such as skinny jeans, stripes, band graphic T-shirts and foxy day dresses. Stirred into the collection are light chiffon tops, oversized boyfriend shorts, jumpsuits and silk harem pants. Add to the mix ruffles, lace-up detailing and neon stilettos and summer’s ready to rock.

This exclusive collection is only available in the Jervis Street flagship store from this month. Idol’s menswear “Death by Stereo” – a small range of T-shirts and shirts – can be bought online. Check out newlook.com.
