Hello, hello. Our colleague Aisling Blee was stopped in her tracks last weekend when she saw this fetching dress, made from a crisp, colourful issue of The Irish Times, in the window of Donna Liddy's shop Cocoon on Mullingar's Pearse Street. The dress was made to grace the window during the summer sales period, Liddy tells us, and has attracted a wealth of comment. Like our Op-Ed pages.

Cocoon stocks some Irish designers, such as Avoca and Mary Grant, and Liddy travels regularly to London, Paris and Milan for FWM, Sarah Pacini and others, and next season she will introduce Daisy May and Charming to her rails. She prides herself on offering honest and helpful advice. Times are tough, she says, but people are interested in clothes that will last. “We like to help people make the right choice and leave feeling happy and confident. If we don’t have just the right thing, we say: ‘Don’t panic! Next week we’ll have something better just for you.’ ”

Cocoon, 6 Pearse Street, Mullingar; open Mon-Sat from 9.30am to 6pm.
