Beauty: Brushes with greatness and other readers’ tips

Men of Ireland: stay away from the bright lights; and Dr Hauschka can help with dry skin

Eimear Ruane of thetwodarlings.com: "I'm a mum of two small girls and work full time, so I look for lasting, well-priced products. For foundation I love L'Oréal Infallible and True Match. Both last throughout the day and look really natural. I mix my foundation with either Mac's strobe cream or No 7 Instant Radiance; this dilutes my foundation so it's not too heavy for daytime wear.

“Good brushes are important; they mean I don’t transfer make-up from my hands to the kids’ clothes. Nima Brushes are beautiful and functional; it’s a bonus that the company is run by an Irish woman, Niamh Martin.”

Paul Dunphy: "Men of Ireland: use moisturiser every day when a teenager and never stop; when you reach your 40s you will be glad you did. Also, when socialising, stay away from bright lights, they are not your friend. Socialise by candlelight if possible."

Ingrid Wallace: "My favourite, cannot-do-without product is Dr Hauschka's rose cream for dry skin. It is reasonably priced at about €26, contains no chemicals and is not tested on animals."
