French apothecary and fragrance range Roger Gallet is determined to dust off its fusty image. New fragrant waters, including Green Tea, Ginger and Citron have been added to the original signature Jean Marie Farina eau de cologne. The brand’s pedigree is impressive – Napoleon liked to bring the scent into battle with him in a boot flask specially made for him by the perfume house. Of the newer products, the Huile Sublime in the Bois d’Orange range, €25, is a luscious skin treat, and the liquid soaps are chic oval dispensers that will posh-up your bathroom for €15. Do you remember what you looked like five years ago? Five in 5 (€3.99) is an iPhone application that consists of five effective facial exercises you can do in just five minutes to turn the clock back five years. Targeting droopy eyelids, laughter lines and saggy necks, the principle is based on resistance and repetition with how-to videos to help you along.

There’s no doubt that facial exercise rejuvenates and refreshes skin – the trick is you have to do them regularly.

I think this one is a winner as it’s quick and, if you have an iPhone, it’s always to hand. You can do the exercises just about anywhere, if you don’t mind people thinking you’re rather strange.

A real Corker

The mere mention of hair and skincare brand Aveda can trigger glowing endorsements from devoted fans of their high-performance, botanically based products.
