Woman in her 80s dies after crash with truck while cycling in Kildare

A woman in her 80s who was injured in a crash with a truck while cycling in Co Kildare has died in hospital.

The crash happened on the R414 Rathangan Road in Monasterevin town, Co Kildare, shortly before 10am on Monday.

The woman was taken to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Dublin city for treatment.

A Garda statement on Tuesday said she was pronounced dead in hospital on Monday.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

The road was closed for a forensic examination by Garda technical staff and diversions were put in place.

Witnesses to the incident and those who may have relevant dashcam footage on the road in the period surrounding the incident have been asked to contact gardaí.
