And just like that . . . the hospitality industry is back in business. Keeping track of all the new openings has been nothing short of thrilling. Despite forecasts of post-pandemic carnage, there’s been a minimal number of closures, but there have been a few tweaks and adjustments.

Staff shortages are still a thing, so dining options early in the week remain a bit thin on the ground. And the inevitable price hikes have spiralled across the board, with some places operating a fixed-price menu to ensure a minimum spend.

We’re also seeing a lot more tasting menus doing the rounds at the more casual end of the market, and while these are an efficient way of controlling costs and minimising food waste, we’re a bit conflicted on them. They do feel like a bit of a restrictive mismatch.
