JAMES Adam and Bonhams will hold a sale of Irish art in Dublin on May 28th - the first joint venture between the Dublin and Knightsbridge auctioneers. The auction will take place after Christies's and Sothebys's Irish sales in London; the two big auction houses gave up having their sales in Dublin some years ago because of the huge cost of moving paintings and staff.

So far some good paintings have been consigned for the Dublin sale, including works by Osborne, Leech and - the essential element - something by Yeats. The closing date for entries is April 18th.
