Armagh – Summer school

The John Hewitt International Summer School continues until Friday and this year addresses the theme: “That loaded word, remember.” Today’s programme includes drama at 8pm and a panel discussion on 20th-century Europe during the afternoon. Tomorrow, author Kevin Barry reads at lunchtime, and the evening panel discussion is on marching bands. johnhewittsociety.org

Wexford – painting festival

Running until August 4th, Art in the Open is a celebration of outdoor painting in and around Wexford town. There is a sizeable free events programme, which includes guided tours and expert tuition. A competition with over 300 entrants is also part of the event. artintheopen.org

Dublin: Peter Pan

Running at the Grand Canal Theatre, the children’s classic continues this week. Tickets are priced from €20, and the show stars Les Dennis and Maureen Nolan. Matinees Wednesdays and Thursdays at 2.30pm, otherwise the show starts at 7.30pm. grandcanaltheatre.ie
