The Muse of Yeats

Novelist John Banville is among the writers gathering at Rossnaree House, Slane, on the banks of the Boyne this weekend. Readings and talks will focus on the lives of Yeats's public muse, Maud Gonne and her daughter, Iseult (right), whom the poet wooed after her mother's rejection of him. Aisling Law, great grand- daughter of Maud Gonne, hosts the weekend of poetry readings, talk, theatre, music and an exhibition of paintings by Maud Gonne.

Two heavyweight selectors top the bill. Ollie Jones has come a long way from dubstep delight Midnight Request Line and can be found spinning house and disco sets these nights when he gets loose in a club. In the past few years, Omar S has become a name to be reckoned with deep, soulful, emotional house and techno releases on FXHE. Support from Frankie Grimes and Lee Kelly.

Live appearance from Darren Foreman, everyone's favourite beatboxing champion, wonky music-making messer and leftfield comedian. Between his various albums – including I Done An Album and the most recent, Distractions – and a fabulous array of live shows (including the much admired One Album Per Hour performances at the Edinburgh Fringe over the past few years), Foreman has become a force to be reckoned with. One of the most dexterous and dazzling live showmen around.

The Compánach Concert

Fintan Vallely has drawn together a rich mix of musicians, singers and dancers for this concert series, with Gerry "Fiddle" O'Connor, Tiarnán Ó Duinnchin, Sibéal Davitt and Roisín Chambers. Photographer Jacques Nutan provides the visuals.

Aleka Potinga/Ruba Shamshoum

As the reputation of the jazz course at Newpark Music Centre grows, more and more young international jazz musicians are blowing into Dublin: Palestinian vocalist Ruba Shamshoum and Romanian singer and cellist Aleka Potinga are two of them. With backing from some of the local scene's most creative musicians, this exotic double bill promises fresh sounds with eastern tinges.
