Catherine Foley – scríbhneoir

Beidh aithne ag léitheoirí an cholúin seo ar Catherine Foley. Shaothraigh sí go díograiseach sa nuachtán seo ar feadh na mblianta, tá leabhair Ghaeilge scríofa aici d’fhoghlaimeoirí fásta – Sorcha sa Ghailearaí, An Cailín Rua agus Samhradh an Chéasta – agus rinne sí cláir fhaisnéise lena deirfiúr, RoseAnn, do TG4 ar an amhránaí Tom Clancy agus ar an scríbhneoir, Molly Keane, mar shampla.

Mura leor sin, tá leabhar nua scríofa i mBéarla aici – Beyond the Breakwater: memories of home (Mercier Press). Cuireann sí síos sa leabhar ar an “transition from childhood in to adulthood. She chronicles her family’s journey from Waterford to the Gaeltacht in 1970 and she monitors the shifting times of each successive decade, recalling individuals, relations, friends and communities she has known”.

Bíodh is go bhfuil an Ghaeltacht i lár an scéil, scríobhann sí fosta faoi na tréimhsí a chaith sí ag taisteal agus í ina cónaí i gCorcaigh agus i mBaile Átha Cliath nó is gné lárnach dá scéal “the complexities, mysteries and longings of the heart and the mind”.

An scríbhneoir John Connolly a sheolfaidh Beyond the Breakwater sa Gutter Book Shop, Cow’s Lane, Barra an Teampaill, Baile Átha Cliath 8, Dé Máirt, 17ú Aibreán ag 6.30 p.m.

Cuirtear fáilte roimh an phobal bheith i láthair agus beidh cóipeanna den leabhar ar díol agus an t-údar ar fáil lena síniú.
