Teanga na trá

Bíonn a teanga féin ag gach aon trá, ag brath ar an am agus ar an aimsir.

Má bhíonn tú ar an trá agus na tonnta ag briseadh, cluinfidh tú teanga ar leith. Cluinfidh an tonn ag titim ar an trá nó ar chlocha an chladaigh agus beidh fuaim ar leith ag teanga na trá an t-am sin den lá.

Má tá lag trá ann, seans gur i bhfad uait a bheas an fharraige agus gan tonn ná tonn le mothú. Ní bheidh le cluinstin ach an ghaoth nó na faoileáin.

Tig leat comhrá a choinneáil leis an trá fosta. Feicfidh tú an smugairle róin caite go míthrócaireach ar an trá nó an portán nár tháinig slán as an tsáile. Beidh sliogáin ann, taisí mara, ag fanacht leis an leanbh lena mbailiú i mbuicéad, taisí a ghinfidh a seanchas féin: “An cuimhin leat an lá...”

Feicfidh tú rian cos sa ghaineamh – daoine ag siúl ar an trá ar nós taiscéalaithe sa tSahára. Nach i bhfad uait a shíneann an trá agus tú i do pháiste? Níl a críoch le feiceáil! Is fíor gur beag seans go mbeidh camall ann ach beidh madadh nó, in amanna, capall le feiceáil, a chrúba móra troma ag tochailt poll as an ghaineamh bhog.

Feicfidh tú nithe eile a d’fhág daoine ina ndiaidh – an mála criospaí a caitheadh i leataobh; cóta linbh a fágadh ar an trá de thaisme; seanphíosa rópa ó bhád ón fharraige amuigh; an caisleán gainimh nach seasfaidh chomh fada le caisleán Normannach.

Agus nithe níos iontaí arís, an fhilíocht. Líne amháin, scríofa de mhéar sa ghaineamh: Niamh loves grandma.
