Tháinig na duilleoga agus na dathanna go tobann. Tá a fhios agat go mbláthóidh na crainn; bláthaíonn siad gach aon bhliain. Tuigeann tú i do chroí istigh go mbláthóidh na crainn nuair a thiocfas síneadh ar an lá, nuair a bheas an ghrian le feiceáil sa spéir arís.

Agus tá na crainn anois ag bláthú – nó cuid acu cibé ar bith. Tá trí cinn de na crainn sa ghairdín faoi bhláth. Níl na craobhacha tiubh le duilleoga go fóill ach tiocfaidh siad diaidh ar ndiaidh.

Tugann na dathanna – bán, corcra, buí – tugann na dathanna leid duit faoina bhfuil le teacht. Tá tús leis an fhás.

Ní fada go leanfaidh na crainn eile dea-shampla an triúir; ní fada go mbeidh an claí cúil faoi cheilt ag na crainn faoi bhláth.

Nach iontach mar a tharlaíonn sé, na dathanna áille atá faoi cheilt san adhmad, ag fanacht, ag fanacht, le solas agus le teas?

Sea, is maith an scéalaí an nádúr, is iontach mar a fhásann an ní nach bhfeiceann muid lenár súile cinn. Fás agus foighid ag cur le chéile le bláth a bhronnadh orainn.

Níl na fuinseoga faoi bhláth go fóill. Cuairteoir gan chuireadh atá san fhuinseog; níor chuir muid iad. D’fhás na crainn aníos as an úir faoina stuaim féin. “Fiaile de chrann,” a thug duine de na comharsana orthu.

Seo na fuinseoga loma ag fás leo, ar neamhchead na gcrann eile, ag bogadh leo i dtreo na spéire.

Bláthóidh siad ar ball.
