An lon dubh ag amharc as géaga loma an chrainn

Tá géaga an chrainn lom. Duilleog ná duilleog níl le feiceáil ann. Ach tá an lon dubh le feiceáil go soiléir sna géaga. Lá feanntach fuar atá ann ach tá an lon dubh ina sheasamh i measc na ngéag agus é ag amharc anuas ar an ghairdín. Tá cúis mhór mhaith aige bheith faiteach – tá cait na gcomharsan sa ghairdín. Trí chat a bhíonn le feiceáil go minic ann agus iad ag bogadh go formhothaithe idir na toim. Tá cat dubh ann, cat riabhach agus fearchat rua. Oiread chéanna le daoine eile, cuireann muid cnónna is eile ar fáil do na héin an t-am seo bliana. Bíonn na héin bheaga – an rí rua agus an gealbhan – le feiceáil ar na beathadáin éan. An druid fosta! Is iontach mar a fhaigheann an druid greim ar na beathadáin chéanna. Shílfeá nach mbeadh sí chomh haclaí leis na héin bheaga ach tá – agus níos santaí. Ní mhaireann bia ar bith rófhada agus na druideanna ag ithe. Agus na cait? An gcluineann siad na héin? An meallann ceol na n-éan iad? Tá an cat dubh anois i bhfolach faoi thom ach feiceann an lon dubh é. Tá an lon dubh cliste. Tá an gairdín ar fad faoi raon a shúl. Níl an lon dubh le léim chun talaimh agus tráth bia a sholáthar don chat dhubh. Fanfaidh an lon dubh go dtí go mbeidh an cat dubh, an cat riabhach agus an fearchat rua ar shiúl. Is fada an lon dubh i mbun faire: Int én bec/ro léc feit/do rinn guip/glanbuidi....
