Buaic-Ghradam Cumarsáide le bronnadh ar Shéamus Mac Géidigh

Iriseoir ‘cumasach, eiticiúil agus cineálta’

Bronnfar Buaic-Ghradam Cumarsáide Oireachtais na Gaeilge ar Shéamus Mac Géidigh, nach maireann.

Thosaigh Séamus ag obair le RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta sa bhliain 1988 agus bhain clú amach dó féin mar thráchtaire spóirt.

Fuair sé ardú céime in 2004 nuair a rinneadh Bainisteoir Réigiúin an Tuaiscirt de. An bhliain chéanna sin bhronn an tOireachtas Gradam Cumarsáide air sa chatagóir “Craoltóir Raidió na Bliana” mar aitheantas dá chuid oibre ar an chlár Barrscéalta ar RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta. Fuair sé bás go hantráthach Iúil 2016 agus gan é ach 54 bliain d’aois.

A bhean chéile , Dolores, a bheidh ag glacadh leis an ghradam ag an tsearmanas.

Dúirt stiúrthóir an oireachtais, Liam Ó Maolaodha, nach raibh sárú an Chonallaigh le fáil mar chraoltóir ná mar iriseoir: “Bhí sé cumasach i mbun a cheirde, eiticiúil ina chur chuige agus cineálta, macánta, fearúil mar dhuine.

“Ní fhéadfaí labhairt ar Shéamus ar ndóigh gan a phaisean don spórt agus do chluichí an Chumainn Lúthchleas Gael a lua, paisean nár tháinig trasna riamh ar a ghairmiúlacht ina chuid tráchtaireachta. Ba onóir í a bheith ag obair leis thar na blianta.”

Tugann Buaic-Ghradam Cumarsáide an Oireachtais aitheantas do shaothar mór a rinneadh in earnáil na meán cumarsáide Gaeilge.

Dé Céadaoine san INEC, Óstán Gleneagle, Cill Airne, Co Chiarraí, a bheidh an searmanas.
