Bolb ar an bhóthar agus féileacán faoi cheilt

Faoi dhó a chonaic mé bolb ar an bhóthar romham. Ordóg dhubh de bholb a bhí ann an dá uair. Bhí sé ag bogadh leis ó thaobh amháin an bhealaigh mhóir go dtí an taobh eile.

B’ait mar a ghluais sé – an droim sin aige thuas seal agus thíos seal, é ag taisteal orlach ar orlach trasna an bhóthair.

Arbh ionann an cosán liath sin aige agus an fharraige mhór againn? Ní thiocfadh liom a dhéanamh amach an raibh an turas ag cur dua air.

Níl rud ar bith álainn faoin bholb. Leoga, déarfainn gur gránna go leor atá an bolb le hamharc air agus is beag fáilte a chuireann an feirmeoir nó an garraíodóir rompu. Itheann an bolb go dtí go mbíonn a bholg lán.

Mar sin féin, cé a dhéanfadh dochar do bholb? Tuigeann muid nach bhfuil i scéal an bhoilb ach cuid amháin dá scéal. Tá an féileacán faoi cheilt sa bholb. Tá cumas eitilte sa bholb dhorcha, sa neach bheag atá ceangailte den talamh. Tuigeann muid gur ag amharc ar dhá scéal atá muid – scéal an talaimh agus scéal na spéire.

Tá tiontú i gceist, claochlú a chuirfeadh éad ort. Tá saol eile i ndán don bholb dhorcha, saol nach mbaineann le turas fadálach trasna an bhealaigh mhóir ach scéal a bhaineann le heití lán dathanna, le saoirse an aeir.

An dtuigeann an bolb féin an méid sin? An dtuigeann sé ina chroí istigh, ach an bealach mór coincréite a thrasnú agus teacht slán, go mbeidh an spéir mar chúiteamh aige?

Ba dheas sin a chreidbheáil.
