Bhí sioc agus sneachta againn. Bíonn cuma dheas ar an tsneachta, nach mbíonn? Bhí na sléibhte máguaird faoi shneachta agus bhí cuma ghalánta orthu. Scéal eile ar fad, ar ndóigh, bheith ag tiomáint sa tsneachta. Cuireann an t-orlach is lú sneachta eagla mo chraicinn ormsa agus ar chuid mhór tiománaithe eile. Níl cleachtadh againn ar bheith ag tiomáint sa tsneachta. Ní cheannaíonn mórán againn boinn sneachta (snow tyres). Dá olcas an sneachta, is measa an sioc agus tú ag tiomáint. Ar a laghad, tig leat an sneachta a fheiceáil. Ní fheiceann muid bagairt an tseaca chomh héasca céanna. Is eol dúinn go bhfuil sioc ar an bhóthar, mar sin féin. Tugann lucht na haimsire rabhadh agus an-rabhadh dúinn faoin chontúirt ach, bíodh sin mar atá, caithfidh muid an teach a fhágáil agus dúshlán an tseaca a thabhairt. Bíonn muid ag fanacht leis an tsioc tuisle a bhaint asainn, an carr a chur i dtreo an chlaí. Faoiseamh a bhíonn orainn uilig ceann scríbe a bhaint amach slán sábháilte. Tá an focal beag sin ‘sioc’ sa chaint againn fosta. Deir muid “is cuma sa tsioc liom” agus muid ag rá, bhuel, gur róchuma linn faoi rud inteacht. Cad chuige ‘sioc’ an cheist atá agam? Ní cuma linn faoi shioc, de ghnáth. Tuigeann muid go mbaineann contúirt le sioc. Cad chuige ar cuma sa tsioc linn? Cad chuige nach ndeir muid: is cuma san fhearthainn liom; is cuma sa ghaoth liom; is cuma san fhuacht liom; is cuma sa ghréin liom?
