The Picnic's tasty proposition

Electric Picnic organisers have promised to add more big names to their impressive initial line-up in the coming months.

Speaking to The Ticket, Declan Forde of Pod Concerts said: "Of the names we've announced so far, I think we're very strong in some areas, not as strong in some genres – but the next [batch of] names we announce should redress that balance. I think getting Orbital's comeback show is something that any festival in the world would envy, so we're very happy with that."

Other acts announced include The Flaming Lips, Madness, Fleet Foxes, MGMT and Basement Jaxx, as well as bands that have rarely gigged in Ireland in recent years, such as ESG and Explosions in the Sky.

“Every Picnic regular knows that the best fun is often to be found in the smaller stages,” said Forde, singling out innovative visual artist Chris Cunningham for particular praise. “[His] live shows are very rare, so they should make for a special atmosphere.” Tickets are on sale from today.
