HAMILTON Osborne King fetched £4,500 for a mid-19th century extending dining table by Strahan of Dublin at its furniture sale last Wednesday, making it the top-sellling lot of the day. Other results were: a walnut and marquetry side cabinet, £2,200; a set of six mahogany dining chairs dating from 1830, and two similar, £1,900; a large mahogany wardrobe by Mack Williams & Gibton, £1,500; a mahogany slopefront bureau bookcase with satinwood and boxwood inlay, £1,300; and a satinwood painted Wellington chest, £1,250.

£500 was paid for a coloured lithograph depicting the funeral of Daniel O'Connell by Currier & Ives, and a mahogany child's open, armchair fetched £450.
