Fishamble’s stolen Olivier award has been returned following the theatre company’s public appeal.
The prized possession was taken during a burglary at its Dublin office on Great Denmark Street last weekend.
“We are delighted to report that the Olivier Award taken from the Fishamble office over the weekend has been returned,” the theatre company said in a statement on Wednesday.
“We very much appreciate all the messages of support received, and are relieved to have Larry back home in its rightful place on the mantelpiece. As this is part of a wider and ongoing Garda investigation, we will not be making any further comment.”

Ireland’s only theatre company to have won the prestigious award, Fishamble received the Olivier in 2016 for the play Silent. Described as “a brave, bleak, beautiful production”, the play – which was written and performed by Pat Kinevane and directed by Jim Culleton – went on to tour internationally.
The award was one of several items taken during the break-in on Saturday night, including an Irish Times Theatre Award and a Herald Arc Angel. It is unclear at this time whether any of the other stolen objects have been returned to Fishamble.
“We’re sorry to see those go and I suppose hoping that they’re not [of] much value to anyone else apart from us and hopefully they might turn up in the next while,” said the company’s artistic director, Jim Culleton, speaking on RTÉ's News at One on Tuesday.
