Spandau tour begins in Dublin

Spandau Ballet will kick off their reunion tour in Dublin this October.

The new romantics, who formed in 1979, announced on Wednesday that all five original members will undertake a UK and Irish tour that will begin at Dublin’s O2 on October 13th and continue Belfast’s Odyssey on October 14th.

Rumours of a reunion began in 2007, when singer Tony Hadley claimed that he was willing to “bury the hatchet” following an acrimonious court case in 1999. Then, Hadley, alongside members Steve Norman and John Keeble, had launched an unsuccessful bid to claim a share of guitarist/songwriter Gary Kemp’s royalties.

In recent years, Hadley's profile has been raised by winning the reality TV series Reborn in the USA, while the Kemp brothers have been mostly involved in occasional acting projects since the band's split in 1989.

Of the reunion, Hadley said: “We have a few surprises in store. It’s going to be brilliant, we’re very excited. But it will be very different to how we used to be. Obviously there’ll be all the hits, the nostalgia, but there will also be a new take on what Spandau Ballet are about.”
