Producer Calvin Harris originally wrote Holiday with girl group du jour The Saturdays in mind, only offering it to Dizzee when they rejected it. He accepted. Which says it all, really, about the direction the former grime star has taken his career of late.

Higher Than the Stars Slumberland ****

Their eponymous debut album (released earlier this year) has earned rave reviews on both sides of the Atlantic. This is the title track of their follow-up EP. It owes a sonic debt to Ride, My Bloody Valentine and (in particular) The Cure’s Just Like Heaven, but with a peculiar charm that is all of its own.

The “legendary” (translation: hasn’t had a hit in years) former Sebadoh frontman returns with a new album next month. And the good news, nostalgia fans, is that he still has exactly the same haircut he had in 1992.
