It isn’t all about the Galway Arts Festival, you know. In other, less populated regions of Ireland (where, thankfully, provincial arts festivals haven’t given up the ghost despite the fraught financial climate) there is a lot going on. Down south in Kinsale, Co Cork this week the organisers are keeping it Irish with gigs by Paul Brady (tomorrow) and Imelda May (Sunday). Each concert is in the natural, intimate, outdoor amphitheatre of Charles Fort.
Meanwhile, at the Clonmel Junction Festival in Tipperary, The Stunning perform at Devane’s Riverside Stage tonight. Up north, at the Earagail Arts Festival, Co Donelgal, The Stunning (yep, them again) perform at Letterkenny’s Grill venue (tomorrow), where they’ll be supported by Quarterdeck, one of the long- forgotten names of 1980s Irish rock/ soul.
