A WATERCOLOUR portrait of Catherine Hayes, the famous 19th century soprano from Limerick, is included in next Tuesday's auction to be conducted by John Dunphy on his premises at Sixmilebridge, Co Clarke. Attributed to Sir Frederick Burton and with an estimate of £400-£600, it is just one of the pictures in this sale. Other canvases are a large, double sided banner by Samuel Watson of Dublin (£2,000-£3,000), an 1841 watercolour of ships by Eugene Isabey (£1,500-£2,000) and a mid 19th century oil called Minnow Fishing, by Thomas Brown (£1,000-£1,500).

Among the furniture is an Irish Regency, panelled pine cupboard, reputed to have come originally from Dromoland Castle (£1,900-£1,500); a George III mahogany, serpentine fronted sideboard (£2,500-£3,500); an Irish longcase clock by Thomas Johnston of Dublin (£2,000-£3,000), a 19th century Irish breakfront serving table and a 19th century carved oak bookcase (both £800-£1,200).
