WHAT is described as the "Ireland premiere" of Gershwin's Porgy and Bess is coming to the Belfast Opera House in November. This New York production is described as "stunning and critically acclaimed". In October, the St Petersburg Ball Theatre, with soloists from the Kirov Ballet, will do Giselle and Don Quixote. Opera Northern Ireland does Verdi's Aida and Mozart's Indomenceo in September.

Pete Postlethwaite, famous here for his role as Giuseppe Conlon in In The Name Of The Father, is appearing at the Opera House in November in Shakespeare's Macbeth. Another highlight of the programme is the puppet theatre company, Theatre Sans Fil from Montreal, as pail of the Quebecois Festival in early October.
