New antiques fair in Armagh

A new antiques and collectors' fair will be held tomorrow at the Palace Stables Heritage centre of Armagh, starting at noon

A new antiques and collectors' fair will be held tomorrow at the Palace Stables Heritage centre of Armagh, starting at noon. Intended to be a monthly event, this first event will include dealers from both sides of the Border, offering among other items a collection of second World War medals, a variety of silver and tableware, a collection of 1930s gramophone records and a large selection of furniture.

On Monday in Dublin, there is to be a bank holiday antiques and collectables fair in Newman House from 11 a.m. Among the stands will be specialists in silver and porcelain, jewellery, Victorian linen and lace, prints, stamps, coins and military coins.

Also on Monday, the National Book Fair will take place at Dublin's Masonic Hall on Molesworth Street. On offer will be a copy of the Memoirs of Joseph Holt, general of the Irish rebels in 1798. Edited by T. Crofton Croker from Holt's original manuscript, there was only one edition published, dating back to 1838. Davidson Books of Co Down will have a number of scarce items, including the London Stationery Office inquiry into the Mandeville Inquest in Co Cork, and a signed edition of Somerville and Ross's The States Through Irish Eyes, published in a limited edition of just 375 copies.
