What's on your rider?Very little these days; I've reverted to bringing my own good stash of hummus and whisky off the bus. So, beers and nuts!
What's the best gig you've been to?I think Pixies at Brixton. It just completely blew me away where they were capable of taking you within four minutes.
And the worst? Now then. A lot of the open-mic nights I used to do felt more like suicide watch than gigs. That was when I realised I definitely wasn't depressed.
What are your favourite and least favourite venues?Favourite is the Eden Project in Cornwall. The most euphoric, positive atmosphere I think I've experienced at a gig. Least favourite? On a small satellite stage in the audience, facing a stadium stage. It's not good hearing yourself back with a two-second delay coming out of the biggest sound system you've ever seen.
Who is the most famous person to have shown up at one of your gigs?Bonnie Raitt. She sat side of stage at our first band show in a shed in Nashville.
Groupies. Would you? IfI was single and the groupie was Aragorn from Lord of the Rings, yes.
How many roadies does it take to change your lightbulbs (ie, how big is your entourage)?Between three and 15, depending on the tour. I have become cosseted and incapable as a result.
Have you a special stage wardrobe?Whatever brings my mojo to the surface. Leather leggings feature regularly.
Do you like to meet and greet fans after the gig?Yes, it's good to know who's keeping your career afloat.
Any useful stage tips?Own it.
What's the worst thing ever thrown at you?Underpants, I suppose. I was once sent a petri dish of someone's sweat. That was bad.
If you could be in any other band, which one?The Chemical Brothers. Or Radiohead.
Who's invited to your aftershow party? If you're not a knob, come in and have a drink.
