AILBHE MALONEapologises for the Snoop Dogg joke. It won't happen again (it might)
TRACK OF THE WEEK
Radioactiveby Marina and the Diamonds. Do you remember how, a little while ago, we mentioned how Marina was doing a thing with an alter-ego (but not quite an alter-ego) called Electra Heart? Well, it seems that Radioactiveis all Electra. Produced by Stargate (Beyoncé, Rihanna, Ne-yo) it's a pulsing euro-pop electro banger – a departure from Marina's normal remit. It's still identifiably her, though – lyrics include " My heart is nuclear / Love is all that I feel / Ready to be let down."
Snoop Dogg’s been busy, right underneath our noses. Best known for rapping, he’s got other, greener interests too, it seems. He’s made a bizarre YouTube video, giving a shout out to “my home boy Ian Neale in Cardiff for breaking the world record for the biggest vegetable”. Snoop’s eager to find out Neale’s secrets, and continues “when I do my show in Cardiff, I want you to come backstage and see me, because I do vegetation myself, and I want to know your secret, so I can show you my vegetables and see if you can grow that into a real big vegetable.” You know, Snoop, we’ve heard that the best way to make vegetables grow is lots of rainwater. Fo’ drizzle.
It's been a big week for Jessie J. Not only has she been appointed as a coach on BBC's version of The Voice, she's also found a new respect for people with no legs. Seriously. She told Q magazine about her ordeal with her broken foot: "People think you go to a special hospital, get special casts and treatment. It's a lie. I'm the same as anyone else. And that was a moment when I had a proper good cry. And it made me realise, like, I need someone now. You give so much as an artist, you give, you give, you give." Jessie reached the entirely logical conclusion that "it's put everything in perspective. I have a different respect now for people who don't have legs."
