The line-ups for Ireland’s two biggest summer musical festivals were announced this week, with tickets for both now on sale.
The first names for Electric Picnic (which were leaked on Wednesday, one day ahead of schedule), which takes place from September 2nd to 4th, include Arcade Fire, whose 2005 appearance has gone down in Irish festival lore. They'll be joined by Pulp, Interpol, The Chemical Brothers, Mogwai and Midlake. Other names on the initial list include PJ Harvey, DJ Shadow, Lykke Li, The Walkmen, Flying Lotus, Health, Beirut, Caitlin Rose, OMD, Jimmy Cliff, White Lies, Big Audio Dynamite, The Charlatans, Boyz Noize, Twin Shadow, The Go! Team, Willy Mason, Paul Kalkbrenner, Trentemøller, Killing Joke, Dave Clarke and O Emperor. Early-bird tickets have already sold out.
Meanwhile Coldplay is the biggest name headed for Oxegen (July 8th-10th). The Strokes, The National, Deadmau5, and Dublin trio The Script will also play, as will Brandon Flowers, Beady Eye, Weezer, My Chemical Romance, Pendulum, Primal Scream, Leftfield, Noah and the Whale, Friendly Fires, Imelda May, Jimmy Eat World, Jenny and Johnny, Tinie Tempah, Bright Eyes, Jessie J and Bruno Mars, among others.
Both festivals are running instalment payment schemes for tickets this year, while one-day tickets for the Sunday of Electric Picnic are also available.
