Artist: Keith Jarrett
Genre: Jazz
Label: ECM

If every Keith Jarrett solo recording in existence were placed end to end, they would encircle a small planet – the infamous Sun Bear Concerts alone takes up six CDs. Many might wonder if this particular planet needs another one, but even cynics will be forced to forgive this addition to the pianist's discography. Recorded in 1981, five years on from the legendary Köln recording that made him famous, these two concerts (spread over three CDs) find Jarrett in the form of his life, repeatedly launching himself into the unknown and coming up with moments of pure joy. The set is released in tandem with No End, a curious self-recorded session from 1986 with Jarrett playing everything from electric guitar to percussion. So this is an expensive time for Jarrett completists. propermusic.com
