It was their rip-roaring performances at New York's 2010 CMJ festival that put these Montreal rocktronica bright sparks on a lot of radars. For those of us who've yet to indulge in some live Suuns, their debut album introduces us to their hyperactive, restless, inside-out-and-upside-down brand of SNAFUdom. Tracks go from A to B, alright, but they always take the scenic route, leaving plenty of time for lashings of enthralling shredding guitars, glitchy electronic pulses and the strangest asides (that would be throbbing Krautdisco, which flits seamlessly into the midst of
Sweet Nothing). It would be easy for singer Ben Shimie to be jostled out of position, but his sweet sliver of a voice helps to build and perfect those moods. What's even more impressive is just how easily Suuns maintain this wonderful ball of confusion – and how downright exciting it all sounds. See myspace.com/ suuns
