It's time for The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble – seasoned favourites on the Irish live circuit as well as collaborators with Damon Albarn and others – to introduce their father to their fans. Phil Cohran made his name as an avant-garde jazz trumpet player with acts such as Sun Ra, Earth Wind Fire and Sarah Vaughan. Eight of his sons went on to form HBE and this first collaboration between the generations is a majestic affair, full of fantastic, colourful, off-kilter nooks and edges.
