Cute, giddy, infectious and ebullient, the five-strong Givers are probably the perkiest band to come our way in quite some time. Hailing from Louisiana, Givers' energetic live show has powered most of their momentum to date, and they've tapped into this source for In Light. But high energy levels alone aren't enough to keep a debut album on the road, and it's how the band flesh out their tunes that impresses most. There are plenty of Afrofunk guitars ( Up Up Up), tropical pop flashes ( Ceiling Of Plankton) and rubs of jittery ballady ( Go Out At Night) on show as Giversroll out the hits to date. There are times when all this dazzle and sparkle begins to drag a little, and you're looking for some shade and contrast, but those bang-on melodies and vibes soon reel you in again.
