Grim times need a tasteful soundtrack to help you find your get up and go. Noted Georgia-born blues guitarist Brooks Williams might not tick all the boxes required for a resurrection shuffle, but there is enough fine playing here to lift the deepest depression.
Take, for example, the delightful dexterity of the title track, the shimmering resonator guitar on the instrumental version of Amazing Graceor the fine version of Mississippi John Hurt's Louis Collins.
Recorded in Bristol, this album is number 17 in a quietly accomplished career that has some way to go, to judge by this collection.
Seven of the 12 tracks are his own, including the intriguing Frank Delandry and the snappy Walk You Off My Mind(which has echoes of Lightnin' Hopkins all over it).
