Opera Theatre Company’s new touring production of Mozart’s Cosí fan tutte (above) is an operatic homecoming for Orpha Phelan. Kilkenny-born Phelan has directed opera in the UK and around Europe, but the OTC Cosí is her first Irish production. The four lovers are sung by Mairéad Buicke, Martha Bredin, Sune Hjerrild and Owen Gilhooly, the manipulative Don Alfonso by Simon Wilding, and the maid Despina by Colette Delahunt. The designer is Madeleine Boyd and Andrew Griffiths conducts.

Also on Saturday, leading American mezzo soprano Jennifer Larmore makes her debut at the National Concert Hall in a programme with the string quintet Opus Five. And on Thursday, also at the NCH, French pianist Philippe Cassard, winner of the first Dublin International Piano Competition in 1988, celebrates his 50th birthday with a recital of Chopin, Grieg, Debussy and Liszt.
