What's on your rider?Water, brandy, tea, sambos and nuts.

What's your pre-gig ritual/ routine?Pace up and down, then go hide to play guitar somewhere quiet.

How do you get to the gig – limo, taxi, walking?Taxi, of course!

What's the best gig you've been to?Rollerskate Skinny, Olympia Theatre, about 10 years ago. It blew me away; an amazing band.

What are your favourite venues?Vicar St, the Olympia and Whelan's would be the favourites.

Least favourite?Venues that have discos on during a gig! It's happened.

Who is the most famous person to have shown up at one of your gigs?Elvis Costello. Well, he was at the same festival I was playing at in Switzerland.

Most embarrassing on-stage moment?Walked out onstage but the guitar strap lay over my shoulder. I was just about to strum the first chord and the guitar crashed onto the ground.

What's your crowd-pleasing number? Cotton on Girl.

Chatting between songs – good or bad?Good as long as it's not too much; it's nice to hear the speaker as well as the singer.

Groupies. Would you?It'd be rude not to.

Have you a special stage wardrobe?Usually a new dress.

Do you like to meet and greet fans after the gig?I do. Most of them are very nice, and it's always good to meet new people.

Any useful stage tips?Pay attention.

What's the worst thing ever thrown at you?Thankfully, I've never had anyone throw anything onstage.

If you could be in any other band, which one?I like Vampire Weekend at the minute. They look like touring with them could be fun.

Who's invited to your aftershow party?The band, friends and liggers.

What's your best tour story?Hanging out with Calexico in Switzerland till the early morning.
