THREE artists take part in this exhibition Eithne Jordan (the best known of the trio), Nick Miller and Hazel Walker. It is small in terms of numbers only 15 works in all, including drawings as well as paintings.

From her hot New Expressionist youth, Eithne Jordan, (now living in France) has moved to small, almost realist pictures in rather low tones and often with a landscape theme or interest. Bathers is an example of the real charm and spontaneity she can achieve on this scale, and Mountain and Trees, Moonlight has an almost romantic mood and intimacy. By contrast, the much larger River does not have the formal muscle to carry its own size and weight.

The drawings and paintings of Hazel Walker are reductive, almost hieroglyphic, and in certain ways reminiscent of Patrick Collins in his quasi abstract vein. They are also thoughtful, intelligent, and concentrate on a few essentials with very telling effect.

Nick Miller paints in rather low, close tones and lays on the paint fairly thick, with a quality of rugged directness. He is more convincing in his small oils virtually studies than in the more full dress Landscape with Pink Gates, which is better in the part than the whole, and also seems just a little congested tonally.
