It’s all about the bass when !Kaboogie take over the house. Aside from a couple of reps from their own crew (including Manus Goan, Thatboytim, Redmonk and Sixfoot Apprentice), tonight’s low-end hullabaloo on Middle Abbey Street from the local bass-beat dons is noteworthy for Kid606’s return to the big smoke.
Born Miguel Depedro in Venezuela, Kid606 is best known for a warped kind of party music that fuses together every style in the shop from hip-hop, punk and jungle to gabba, dancehall and techno. The Kid has been spreading his out-there electronic gospel for over a decade via his Tigerbeat6 label and a massive amount of releases. This year's restless, abrasive and occasionally exhilarating Shout at the Döneralbum shows Depedro's recent move to Berlin has merely accentuated his ability to keep firing up scuzzy alternative rave anthems. A night out for the headstrong.
