A special auction of Irish and English silver, silver plate and jewellery is being held by Joseph Woodward & Sons of Cork next Wednesday. More than 450 lots include a Limerick soup ladle by William Fitzgerald (circa 1785), a Cork George III brandy saucepan by John Nicholson (circa 1770), a Dublin George III beer jug by Charles Townsend (circa 1774) and a Cork helmet-shaped cream jug by Carden Terry and Jane Williams (circa 1795).

Naturally, a great many other pieces are also from Cork, such as a pair of dessert spoons by John Whelpley (circa 1810) and a bright cut soup ladle by John Warner (circa 1790). In addition, the auction features jewellery from William Egan & Co, formerly of Patrick Street in Cork; these lots are to be sold without any reserves.
