Tall Tales Theatre Co, a small independent theatre company, which provides a platform for women writing in Irish theatre, is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary by presenting a summer season of new plays written by women.

The plays, which are being performed at lunchtime in Bewley's Café Theatre on Dublin's Grafton Street, were chosen from a total of 21 submitted works.

Hue & Cryby Deirdre Kinahan finished on Saturday, Fireworks by Iseult Golden runs until July 28, and TICby Elizabeth Moynihan opens on August 1st and runs until August 18th. The three plays, collectively known as TxTs, are presented in association with Bewley's Café Theatre.

The aim was "to redress the balance every so slightly in favour of women writers", says Eileen Sheridan, company manager of Tall Tales Theatre. "The response was tremendous but because of the one-act, space and lunchtime limitations, we had to cull the numbers."
