HAMILTON Osborne King's first auction of the year will be held next Wednesday, starting at 2.30 p.m. This a general sale with furniture, pictures, porcelain and silver among the 400 lots.
A carved, giltwood convex mirror dating from circa 1820 (estimate £2,500-£3,500) and a 19th century gothic, revival oak bookcase (£2,000-£3,000) are expected to fetch among the day's highest prices. Other pieces likely to excite strong interest are a pair of 19th century ormolu tall candelabra, probably French (£1,500-£2,000); a pair of late Canton export vases (£1,200-£1,800); a mahogany, harewood banded, marquetry oval pembroke table (£1,400-£1,800); and a set of six mid-19th century Irish mahogany dining chairs and a 19th century walnut and parquetry vitrine cabinet (both £1,000-£1,500).
Among the pictures is an oil of a family conversation piece from the circle of George Henry Harlow (£2,500-£3,500) and a pastel by George Campbell of a gitana dancer (£1,000-£1,500).
