Fine-Art Course

Places still available for 10 evening lectures

Places are still being offered on the new season's introductory fine-art course by the Irish Auctioneers & Valuers Institute. This begins on Tuesday, September 29th and includes a series of 10 evening lectures together with what is called an antiques roadshow in early December, when students are invited to bring items for inspection by experts in the field.

Classes will be held in the IAVI's headquarters in Merrion Square, Dublin, and will be given by such well-known members of the antiques trade as Brian Coyle and James O'Halloran, Fonsie Mealy, Douglas Bennett, Denis Drum and Michael Jordan. Topics covered include Georgian and Victorian furniture, 19th and 20th-century Irish art, books and periodicals, pottery and porcelain, silver and jewellery.
