Back in 1997, James Cameron's Titanicestablished what look liked unbreakable records for what people in the biz call a foot shuffler: punters shuffle their feet as they queue around the block for the event movie in question; months later, they stare at their feet and shuffle them in embarrassment as you clock them as the happy nut who once claimed to have watched Titanicthree trillion times.

This week Avatarreceives a second theatrical release with several minutes of new footage attached. Was that film, with all its bells and whistles, just another foot-shuffler? Just how long is the zeitgeist, anyway? We'll tell you when the box office figures arrive on Monday, shall we?
